It is believed that the city was founded in 1776, but in fact it is much older. In the 16th and 18th centuries, the territory of the future city belonged to the Zaporizhzhya Sich. In 1635, the Polish authorities built the Kodak Fortress, and the future Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky took part in the opening. The following year, the Cossack forces under the command of Ivan Sulima conquered the Kodak Fortress, but government troops returned it to. The Cossacks recaptured Kodak in 1648, at the beginning of the Liberation War.

What you can find in the city today?

Considering its long history, Dnipro had many "faces", but how is the city doing today?

We want to bust a myth about an image of a soviet-closed-industrial center because today, Dnipro developing at the speed of light.

First of all, in Dnipro, you can find the longest embankment in Europe (24 km long) and the shortest metro in the world which is 7 km long and has only 6 stations (but soon there will be added 3 more stations, So, hurry up if you want to take a ride).

In addition, Dnipro is the official space capital of our country. Ask any local if you don't believe us. So, from the previous historical reference we know that the city was closed to foreigners due to the location of the Pivdenmash factory (which was making space rockets and missiles) and other strategic objects. Nowadays Pivdenmash produces rockets that are known and used in the world.

For example, in 2018, the American-Ukrainian private space company Firefly opened its research center and manufactures parts for its rockets in Dnipro.

And of course, in the space capital you can also visit the astronautics museum, planetarium and rocket park. Descriptions and more information you can find on See&do page.
